More details Dr Richard Leese will be speaking on the role of fuel switching in net-zero. The presentation will explore the role of fuel switching in decarbonising energy-intensive mineral production. Dr Richard Leese is a chartered environmental scientist. At the Mineral Products Association he holds two roles: Director – MPA Cement and Director – Industrial Policy Energy and Climate Change. By education he is an environmental scientist and conservation biologist with a Ph.D. on the implementation of environmental policy and its influence on clean technology adoption. Following 10 years in the chemical industry managing environmental, safety and regulatory affairs for a group of chemical sites, Richard joined the British Cement Association (now part of the Mineral Products Association) and has over 25 years’ experience in environmental and industrial policy development and implementation in the process industries. Richard is a board member of the UK Emissions Trading Group. In September 2021 Richard took the chair of the Energy Intensive Users Group representing steel, chemicals, paper, glass, ceramics, mineral products and industrial gas sectors on energy cost and energy security.

Joe Hilton currently works within the JCB Electric team on implementing JCB's Road to Zero strategy which includes growing sales of the electric products range as well as promoting alternative fuels to diesel. His presentation - Alternatives to Red Diesel: Electric Powered Equipment - will outline the alternatives which are available today and will include hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and the JCB electric product range as well as the benefits of electric-powered equipment.
