Anthony Morter
I am very sorry to hear of the death of Anthony Morter. Anthony held the position of Secretary of the Institute of Asphalt Technology for 14 years from 1997 to 2011. As I remember myself, Anthony during these years, was effectively the ambassador for the IAT and the connection between the IAT and its members.
As articulated by former President Chris Lycett, Anthony was a loyal and conscientious servant for the IAT, whose door was open to all members for any queries that need to be addressed. He was a permanent representative of the IAT at many industry events, and promoted the objectives of the Institute at every opportunity that was available to him.
Anthony was always a pleasure to meet. He had broad and deep knowledge of our Industry. He was commited to professional development. He shared his own knowledge, effortlessly and willingly, with the IAT membership throughout Ireland and UK. He also had a pleasant disposition. All these attributes and values were put to good use, for the benefit of the IAT.
Post his retirement from the IAT, Anthony was awarded an Honorary Fellow grade of the Institute in recognition for all his work, an award he richly deserved.
While I know many in the IAT that knew Anthony will grieve his death, yet they will be grateful for the privilege of knowing him. We are all the better for having known him. He will be missed most by his family and close friends to whom I offer my sincere condolences.
His funeral details are as follows: "A service for all on April 25th, Thursday at 1pm at St Michael’s Church Betchworth followed by light refreshments. It is intended to be a celebration of life, hopefully with colour and not too much black."
May Anthony Rest in Peace.
