BEAR Scotland manage, maintain and improve over 2,500km of Scotland’s strategic Trunk Road network, through some of the most scenic, but challenging parts of the country.
An opportunity has arisen for a suitable candidate to take on the role of Graduate Pavement Engineer in the North East Unit Planned Maintenance team.
This role can be based in our Head Office in Perth or within our Broomhills office in Edinburgh.
Reporting to the Pavement Manager/Pavement Engineer, the Graduate Pavement Engineer will assist with the co-ordination of the programme of pavement investigations, including techniques such as coring and DCP testing, as well as non-destructive structural evaluations using FWD and GPR.
The role also involves collection and interrogation of relevant data to determine the most appropriate maintenance treatment, and compilation of comprehensive technical reports for submission to Transport Scotland.
A basic knowledge of pavement engineering materials, deterioration mechanisms, investigation techniques and maintenance options would be beneficial, although full training will be provided. Individuals with a specific interest in pavement engineering are encouraged to apply.
