More details Alan LC Ferguson: Data capture driving efficient processes How using automatically collected data in road surfacing operations facilitates efficient and effective working. Alan is a Chartered Engineer and past President of the Institute of Asphalt Technology. He spent over 25 years working in the design, production and laying of asphalt for quarrying companies and representing them on a number of national pavement committees. His last industry position was Director of Quality and Environmental Services for Breedon Aggregates Scotland. Six years ago Alan joined Waterman Aspen as a Senior Consultant and is currently on a full time placement with Transport Scotland as a Material Advisor.

Iain OrmidIain Ormrod has 20 years experience working in the quarrying industry, starting as a trainee shotfirer and then working in a succession of supervisory and management roles up to the level of General Manager. He has worked across multiple disciplines, covering hard rock, sand & gravel, asphalt manufacture, recycling, landfill as well as commercial roles. Currently responsible for the safe and efficient deployment of Chepstow Plant’s 400 front line assets, covering direct hire to clients as well as subcontracted operations. As the General Manager with Chepstow plant I am able to put my experience to good use working with a team of Regional Managers to deliver great customer service. This service manifests itself in several ways. Building a safe culture within our site teams as they integrate with our clients’ teams. Delivering geotechnically safe structures throughout earthmoving operations and eventual site restoration to the desired landform. On time delivery of mineral of the right quality and required quantity. All of which have to be delivered in the ever changing landscape of the industry, such as the challenges created by HS2, fuel duty and Brexit, as well as the opportunities of electric and autonomous vehicles.
