| More details | Following an industry consultation, National Highways committed in RIS2 (2020 – 2025), to updating the MCHW to create a suite of clear, unambiguous, and user-oriented digitally-enabled documents that met the needs of modern contacts and projects. The new Specification for Highway Works (SHW) and Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) was launched in October 2025. The new standard emphasises sustainability, low-carbon materials, and digital innovation, while supporting Net Zero goals. Paul will be providing the branch with an in-person presentation on how and why the SHW has changed and the new structure. Paul will also be providing an update on what is coming up for the next round of technical updates to the pavement content within the MCHW and DMRB. There will be an opportunity to ask questions as part of a Q&A session at the end of the presentation. |
