More details IAT members will be familiar with the asphalts used in a typical road pavement. However, asphalts are used for many other types of pavement. The Scottish Branch is delighted to be welcoming that giant of the asphalt industry, Professor Ian Walsh MBE.

Ian is extremely knowledgeable and always worth listening to and will be speaking on the topic of pavements and constituent asphalts to be used in non-highway applications.

Among the areas Ian will address will be:-
- car parks where the traffic is solely cars and light commercial vehicles;
- car and lorry parks where the traffic consists of both cars and heavy goods vehicles of significant size;
- school playgrounds;
- industrial estates;
- goods yards of individual industrial premises;
- bridleways; and
- agricultural uses.

A key element will be references to any appropriate guidance documents.
